More Special Visitors

Piper had more special visitors at the house. Mimi (her other great-grandmother) came to spoil her. I love for Piper to be spoiled with attention from family, although I have realized that now she can only fall asleep while I'm holding her in my arms. Hmmm... we may have to break this habit soon although I do love holding her and watching her eyelids fight the sleep. Also my dear friend from high school, Michal came to visit. It was so fun having her here. Piper shops more on Michal's pace so I know that Michal is so glad to have a buddy who slows me down while shopping. I'm going to have to train my girl in the art of power shopping.
Any one remember Where's Waldo? Well - where's Piper? Can you find her in the sea of polka dots?

And in other news Chris is celebrating his new club - a Burner inspired by D. Moss. He's been practicing at the driving range and is ready for anyone to challenge him on the greens. We made it back to church this weekend. It was great to worship and see so many friends. Chris and I were reminded of how long we've known some of you and the life stages we have gone through together. We are excited to raise Piper in this loving church family. Also Chris and I are perservering through our difficult masters course on Research. Such a fun topic to learn about with a newborn, but we've been able to complete all assignments so far, only two weeks left in this exhilirating course. This is going to be my first week on my own with Piper and I won't be able to call on Chris for help since he'll be giving the TAKS test at school all week. I know Piper and I will make it, but I'm afraid one of us may have less hair at the end of the week.
Sebashtian - GOOD LUCK ON YOUR MATH TAKS TEST!!!!!

Health Update

Look at this happy smiling baby! Isn't she precious!?! Yesterday Piper had her fourth hearing test with our good friend Melody and she passed with flying colors. I guess 4th time's a charm. Hopefully that will be true next week at our dr. appt. Piper has to go back and have her weight checked for the 4th time to see if she is back to birth weight. She's been having a hard time regaining her weight, but that may be partly due to her acid reflux. She started her medicine today and is so good about taking her strawberry flavored pills. She also gets to sleep in her car seat at all times now which doesn't make her too happy, and she gets to practice tummy time. As you can see below, she thinks tummy time is face plant time, but she's happy because it keeps the paci shoved in her mouth.
I promise she wasn't crying, she was actually happy in this position.

Piper's future?

Can you guess what Chris is praying for Piper's future?

To become a Texas Tech red raider and to have a love for playing the game of golf. We shall see.

Family comes to visit - sorry the pics are out of order

Awww - so cute!

We have had the best week with my family visiting. They were so excited to meet Piper and to help Chris and I with anything and everything. My mom (the energizer bunny) cooked, cleaned, did laundry, helped decorate, changed diapers, and LOVED on Piper. My dad is the expert rocker. He and Piper spent a lot of time in the recliner with their eyes closed.

My grandparents came in for the weekend. They were so excited to meet their first great-grandchild and my brother Matt also stopped by on Sunday.

I was in withdrawl today not having anybody here and I think Piper was too. Here she is with daddy when he came home from work. Mom obviously wore her out, little does she know - she wore me out too.

Bluebonnets

My mom and I took Piper to a bluebonnet field in Carrollton. We got the best pictures we could considering we were photographing a two week old baby in the wind. Piper was a little cold. I look forward to many more years of bluebonnet pictures. Thanks Sherry for the pretty dress and headband. The shoes were a gift from my mom and have her initials on them.

Easter for Big Brother & Little Sister

Easter weekend proved to be a fun-filled weekend for all. Sebashtian was in town to spend the weekend with us and meet his new little sister. Saturday afternoon we spent time with our friends, The Tiggemans, for a good ol' fashioned Easter Egg Hunt.

The Wii Tourneys are starting to get fierce with me and Bash but he loves his little sister. He really loved playing with her hair and wanted to hold her a lot. All in all, I think he's OK with having another little sister.

Since this is Piper's first Easter, of course, she had to have a dress and all that. She is doing well and eating more and more each day. She's also starting to stay awake a little longer during the day, but she's so cute when she's sleeping!

Sleep deprived

Piper seems to be progressing. Everyday it seems a little easier to interact and love on her. Today we went to the pediatrician, in my book the best pedi EVER, Dr. Smalley. He's awesome and he even prayed over little Piper after the visit - what parent wouldn't want that? Overall, our visit went well, no complaints!! Piper has lost some weight which is no big surprise and now that the breasfeeding is starting to catch stride, Taylor and I are doing much better and Piper will be back to her birth weight in no time. After a rough night we were both probably a little deflated with the way her first 2 nights home were going. Praise God, Taylor and I are starting to see little changes to show that we aren't defeated yet. Piper is awesome even though she can't speak and rarely opens her eyes. I take her little uncontrolled headbutts to mean that she loves us. Well, that's it for today so pray that we'll make it through tonight and hopefully get more than 2-3 hours of sleep. YEAH SLEEP!!!

We made it!!!

Going Home!!! (This is a very special outfit that Taylor, her Dad, and her brothers wore home from the hospital. Piper agreed to wear it home also but it was a little difficult to completely button or tie.)

First night home and we made it. Piper had a little bit of a fussy night but Taylor and I managed to make it through the night with at least 3-4 hours of sleep. Of course, Taylor was awesome with Piper, I was almost useless but did serve as a pillow for Piper. I guess I can get a little bit of an idea of what it feels like to have an 8lb baby in your body. Piper snuggled up to me and slept like a champ. Overall, it was a good night with the exception of an hour or so The Red Hulk, aka Piper!

Piper also had the opportunity to meet cousin Molly and Uncle Randy. Family is awesome!!!

Day 2

Ok, so here's the deal. I was born at 8:45 am April 2, 2009. I weighed 8lbs .04 ounces, which is not enough to round me up. I was 20 inches long and named after my Mom's Mom which I have yet to meet and give a grandmother name to. Although I look like a football player with my chubby cheeks and big shoulders; when it's time to eat all I want to do is sleep. You just can't beat being wrapped up when it's all warm. I really hate when my Dad unwraps me and changes my diaper but I guess someone has to do it. I wanted to include a couple of pictures from my last 24 hours so, enjoy.

This is my Uncle Alwyne!

This is my Mom!!

Whoa Mama!!!

She's here!!! First of all, let me apologize for any misspelled words that may be in this post. Please forgive me!! Taylor and I have welcomed our little girl into the world! I wish I could give you all the specifics but the night has been a complete blur. We arrived at the hospital a little before 1am and we've had minimal sleep since then (I know it will continue).

Taylor was amazing; she fought and fought until Baby Johnson was out. I was surprised and amazed at her efforts. She is sleeping peacefully as I compose this post. I'm sure you are all wanting to know the important information so here it goes. Baby Johnson was born I think, at 8:55am, and I had the fortunate opportunity to cut the umbilical cord which was a new one for me. She was 8lbs even and I'm not sure how long and her name is Piper Kristine Johnson. Both of my girls are safe. Of course, Taylor is a little sore right now but knowing her I'm sure she'll be up and around soon.

Bash & Basketball

I didn't know what to expect from Sebashtian's first basketball game but I guess I was surprised that the kids (3rd & 4th graders) were playing on regulation size goals(10 feet). There are a number of issues with that, but I won't bore you with my reasoning behind that. Anyway, the game was all that I had hoped for. It was exciting, suspenseful, funny, and action-packed. All in all, it was a fun experience to see my boy who was at one time no longer than the distance from my elbow to my hand to be playing one of my favorite sports. Now that Bash has a season of basketball under his belt, I'm looking forward to watching him play again next time.
